How to Wash and Care for Your Human Hair Bun

Because your hairdidi.com bun is made from 100% human hair, it behaves like your own hair: it can be washed, it softens with care and it can dry out if it's treated roughly. A few simple habits will keep it looking new for much longer.

How often to wash it

Only when it needs it. For most people that's every 10–15 wears, or sooner if you've used a lot of hair spray, been in dust or smoke, or it starts to feel heavy. Over-washing is the most common reason hair pieces lose their shine.

How to wash it

  1. Detangle first. Gently work through the strands with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb before it gets wet.
  2. Use cool or lukewarm water. Hot water dries hair out.
  3. Use a mild shampoo. A small amount of sulphate-free shampoo is enough. Soak and swirl gently; don't scrub or rub.
  4. Condition the lengths. Apply a little conditioner, leave for 2–3 minutes, then rinse well.
  5. Press, don't wring. Squeeze out water with a towel. Twisting or wringing can loosen the shape.

How to dry it

Lay it flat on a dry towel and let it air-dry away from direct sunlight. Avoid hair dryers on high heat. Once it's fully dry, reshape it gently with your fingers.

How to store it

  • Keep it in its pouch or a clean box so it keeps its round shape.
  • Store it somewhere dry; damp cupboards can make hair frizzy.
  • Don't store it squashed under other things.

Everyday dos and don'ts

  • Do use a light serum on the ends if it feels dry.
  • Do let it rest between wears.
  • Don't sleep in it.
  • Don't apply heavy oils; they weigh the hair down and attract dust.

Treat it like your favourite hair day, and it will keep giving you one.
