How to Wear a Donut Scrunchie Bun in Under a Minute

A big, soft messy bun is one of the easiest looks to wear every day, but it's hard to get when your own hair is fine, thin or just doesn't hold volume. That's exactly what a donut scrunchie bun is for. It wraps around your own hair and turns a small bun into a full one in seconds.

What you'll need

  • Your hairdidi.com Donut Scrunchie Bun
  • A small hair tie
  • 1–2 bobby pins (optional, for extra hold)

Step 1: Make a base

Brush your hair back and tie it into a ponytail at the height you want your bun: high for a casual, youthful look, mid for everyday, low for office and functions. Your hair only needs to be long enough to tie up.

Step 2: Twist into a small bun

Twist the ponytail and wrap it around the hair tie to make a small bun. It doesn't have to be neat; this is just the base the scrunchie will sit on.

Step 3: Slip the scrunchie over

Stretch the donut scrunchie with both hands and slide it over your bun, so it sits right around the base. Wrap it once more if it feels loose.

Step 4: Shape it

Gently pull a few strands outwards with your fingertips and tuck any ends underneath. For a messier look, loosen it more; for a neater look, smooth the top with your palm. Add a bobby pin or two if you're going to be out all day.

Tips for a natural finish

  • Match the shade to your lengths, not your roots. If you're between two shades, go darker.
  • Pull out a few face-framing strands from your own hair so the look feels soft and real.
  • Place it slightly off-centre for a relaxed, effortless style.

That's it: a full messy bun in under a minute. Once you've done it two or three times, it becomes second nature.
